My mom's recipe, which was a staple growing up. It's still my favorite chocolate sauce--I could eat it with a spoon! (...and I do)
what you'll need:
2 cups powdered sugar
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup butter
13 oz evaporated milk
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup Kahlua
yields: 2 cups
total cook time: 30 minutes
instructions:
In a small saucepan, combine powdered sugar, chocolate chips, butter, and evaporated milk. Cook over medium heat until the mixture gradually comes to a boil. Stir frequently so that the bottom does not burn.
Once boiling, add vanilla and Kahlua. Continue cooking and stirring constantly for an additional 3 minutes.
This sauce holds up well in the refrigerator and is best served warm.
